Exploring 'County Election' by George Caleb Bingham, 1854

A historical painting depicts a bustling 19th-century American town scene with many men in period clothing gathered outside a wooden building, some drinking, others conversing or sitting on steps, while a small dog wanders nearby. A blue banner hanging from the building's porch reads 'THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE IS SUPREME LAW'.
