There's a history of naming notorious dictators as 'Person of the Year'

The image displays two side-by-side TIME magazine covers. The left cover features Donald Trump seated in a chair, with the text 'Person of the Year' and 'DONALD TRUMP PRESIDENT OF THE DIVIDED STATES OF AMERICA'. The right cover shows Adolf Hitler in a brown uniform with a swastika armband, under the 'TIME THE WEEKLY NEWSMAGAZINE' masthead. The juxtaposition implies a controversial comparison between the two figures.
