A Soldier's Heartfelt Letter from WW1 France: Ready to Sacrifice for Comrades

A vintage handwritten letter on official American YMCA stationery from a soldier 'on active service' with the American Expeditionary Forces in France, dated November 7, 1918. The letter, addressed to Mrs. J.M. Watfield in Cookeville, Tennessee, is written in cursive and humorously claims the writer is 'very busy' but 'came over to win the world by the way we are doing it,' followed by a partially cut-off sentence about celebrating. The letterhead features the YMCA logo and 'ON ACTIVE SERVICE' text.
