Throwback to December 10, 1990: The Birth of 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Comic Strip

A black-and-white comic strip from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles shows Donatello claiming to remember 'warm dark oneness' from before hatching. His brothers mock him, with one saying 'big deal' and another suggesting he 'ought to flatten your shell.' In the final panel, Donatello, now a fully formed turtle, sarcastically claims the others were 'doing our best to escape' while he was 'yolking around,' as a sign for 'Reduced Turtles 4 for One Dollar!' appears nearby. The humor stems from the absurd contrast between Donatello's grandiose claim of ancient memory and the mundane reality of being a baby turtle in a grocery store sale.
