Minnesota's bold statement of defiance

A framed cross-stitch piece on white fabric displays the text 'MINNESOTA'S MIDDLE FINGER' in black thread above a red embroidered mitten. The mitten is stitched with a repeating pattern of the letter 'M' and has a black outline. The framed artwork hangs on a white wall, with a pink canvas painting visible above it and the top of another black-framed picture below. The joke plays on Minnesota's reputation for being cold and its residents' tendency to be sarcastic or defiant, humorously represented by a mitten (a symbol of cold weather) with the middle finger (a symbol of defiance).
