A Seasonal Look at Bloom County
A two-panel black-and-white comic strip shows a family at a Thanksgiving dinner table with a roasted turkey. In the first panel, a person at the table addresses God, asking to thank the turkey. In the second panel, the same person continues, describing the turkey as a lively, intelligent, affectionate bird with human-like compassion. The humor comes from the absurdity of thanking a turkey for being a social being capable of affection, which is ironic given the context of Thanksgiving dinner.
